Being free from any impurities, distilled water is also used in chemical experiments of most kinds. Some experiments for biochemistry however use double distilled water.

There are a number of misconceptions about distilled water. The most common misconception is that distilled water is bad for you because it does not contain any essential minerals needed by human body. It is a known fact that the human body is more dependent on food for procuring minerals than it is on water. While it may be possible that certain essential minerals may be removed form water after the distillation process, our body was hardly capable of using those minerals, which were lost when water was distilled. Another misconception about distilled water is that it can be superheated. The possibility of distilled water being superheated is equal to the possibility of tap water being superheated.

Distilled water is being increasingly used in a number of cities around the world. Distilled water is generally distributed through water bottles because there is a probability that if distilled water is distributed using the municipal water supply network, then impurities will be added to it automatically. Distilled water can however be procured in a much more economical way.
